Welcome to ARB Books

David Walliams is back!

When he’s not judging Britain’s Got Talent, David Walliams is busy writing children’s books and his latest, The World’s Worst Children 2, with illustrations by Tony Ross, was published in May.

To celebrate its release, ARB Books have a special offer on a pack of his most popular titles, which have all been quizzed for Accelerated Reader. The 36 titles in this collection consist of six copies each of six books. They are Demon Dentist, Mr Stink, Billionaire Boy, Gangsta Granny, The Boy In The Dress and Ratburger.

Since David began his book writing career in 2008, with The Boy In The Dress, he’s established himself as a modern day Roald Dahl. The comedian, who’s also famous for starring with Matt Lucas in the TV sketch show Little Britain, has sold more than 12.5 million books and they’ve been translated into 46 languages.

Gangsta Granny is one of his most successful titles. The book is now a touring stage show – produced by The Birmingham Stage Company – that transfers to the Garrick Theatre in the West End from 26 July to 3 September 2017. It was previously made into a feature-length comedy drama on BBC1 in Christmas 2013.

Part of his popularity is born out his ability to write for reluctant readers. “People approach me and say: ‘Thank you, because I couldn’t get my son to read a book until he read one of yours’,” he said in an interview with ITV News last year.

“I think it is really important,” he added, “I remember the first book that I loved, which was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and I don’t think you ever forget the book that got you into reading. So that, to me, is a real thrill.”

He also joked about being likened to Dahl. “It's nice for me, an insult to him,” he said. “His books are perfect and I don't think mine are in the same league, but it's a nice comparison.”
